ABOUT
Kathryn
Kathryn enjoys birdwatching, practicing the theremin, observing dappled sunlight whenever possible, the usual dancing, prancing, pondering life and of course, wine.
A wine professional in Seattle for 15 years, she first worked as a shopkeep (all hail the neighborhood wineshop!) then as a sommelier (her wine program at L’Oursin was James Beard nominated twice for best in the country) and now as an importer and wholesale distributor with Radio Wine Co.
She hasn’t studied wine formally, instead learning from texts, maps (so many maps) and from the expertise and experience of others. She walks away from every tasting, winery visit, day of drinking wine on the beach with friends with new ideas and information about the world of wine and how we might find harmony within it.
Her belief is that wine should say something first and foremost, and that special wine comes from healthy origins, tended by good people and circulates to those who care about nature, food and each other.
Outside of her work with Radio Wine this summer, Kathryn is looking forward to guest sommelier-ing at Mosquito Supper Club in NOLA, and her third year leading Vineshoot, a natural wine garden at Bumbershoot. She also plans to cook and garden with her husband Taber and dote on their cat, Georgetown.
SOFIA
Fronteriza fluent in Spanglish, on a quest to democratize wine. After completing her B.A. in Biology in 2016, she was first introduced to wine while working at a tasting room in nearby Valle de Guadalupe. From there, she held positions in virtually every sector of the industry, with stints managing a small winery, running a hospitality program for a regional restaurant group, and working in cellar production, her first venture into winemaking. After working harvests in CA, Oregon, and WA, she relocated to Seattle to join the thriving natural wine scene in the Pacific Northwest.
Never met a dog she didn’t like.
Taber
Yep. That about sums it up.
